I am a qualified and highly experienced university teacher (PG Cert HE; FHEA) and teacher of ESOL.

March 2022–present Lecturer in Academic Skills at the University of Sussex Law School, offering academic advice to students in one-to-one and group sessions, and undertaking research.

Sept 2022–present I help to run Story Tree, a story-reading group for refugees at Jubilee Library, Brighton

2021–present Academic Skills Consultant at the University of Sussex, delivering academic skills workshops for students across the university. Topics include planning and structuring; critical thinking; developing an argument; dissertation writing; editing; and improving academic style.

2015–present; 2006–08: Teaching English to migrants and refugees at the Migrant English Project and online (voluntary)

2021 Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Brighton, offering one-to-one appointments to students and staff to help them to improve their writing.

Aug 2019–March 2022: Student Academic Success Adviser, University of Sussex Business School, offering academic advice to students in one-to-one and group sessions.

2019: Teaching English to migrants and refugees at Cook, Learn and Eat courses

2018–19: Academic Skills Consultant at the Careers and Entrepreneurship Centre, University of Sussex, working in partnership with academic staff and professional services to design and deliver innovative and dynamic academic skills workshops across the university.

Oct 2013 to May 2018: Royal Literary Fund Consultant Fellow, Careers and Employability Centre, University of Sussex, running academic skills workshops for undergraduates and Masters students on all aspects of the writing process.

2008–14: Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at the University of Sussex (2008–10); University of Chichester (2011 –12); University of Southampton (2012–13) offering one-to-one appointments to students to help them to improve their writing.

May 2012–Apr 2013: Advisory Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund, mentoring new Writing Fellows

2011: Cover teacher, Friends Centre, Brighton, teaching English from Entry 1 to Level 2

2000–01: CLIC International House, Seville teaching English to adults and children; cover teacher of French
