ACADEMIC SKILLS WORKSHOPS
I run workshops for undergraduate and Masters students on all aspects of academic skills, with a focus on the writing process.
From May 2018: Academic Skills Consultant at the Careers and Employability Centre, University of Sussex, working in partnership with academic staff and professional services to design and deliver innovative and dynamic academic skills workshops across the university. Topics include planning and structuring; critical thinking; reading effectively; developing an argument; incorporating sources; editing; and improving academic style.
October 2013 to May 2018: Royal Literary Fund Consultant Fellow, working at the Careers and Employability Centre, University of Sussex, running academic skills workshops for undergraduates and Masters students on all aspects of the writing process.
2008–14: Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at the University of Sussex (2008–10); University of Chichester (2011 –12); University of Southampton (2012–13) Delivering one-to-one writing tutorials to university students at all levels
May 2012 to April 2013: Advisory Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund, mentoring new Writing Fellows
2011: Cover teacher for the Friends Centre, Brighton, offering English classes from Entry 1 to Level 2
2000-01: Teaching at CLIC International House in Seville teaching English to adults and children; cover teacher of French; one-to-classes
In 2019 I started a project with Quiet Down There, Brighton to co-facilitate workshops in primary schools on gender stereotyping.

January 2015–present; 2006–08: Teacher of English to migrants and refugees on a voluntary basis at the Migrant English Project in Brighton
September 2015–18: Story mentor with Little Green Pig, Brighton, helping children with their writing at story-making workshops
In 2014 I qualified as a Royal Literary Fund Consultant Fellow, accredited by the Royal Literary Fund.
I have a Trinity Certificate in TESOL (Distinction), awarded in 2000.
