Aug 2019–present: Student Academic Success Adviser, University of Sussex Business School, offering academic advice to students in one-to-one and group sessions.

2019: Teaching English to migrants and refugees at Cook, Learn and Eat courses

2015–present; 2006–08: Teaching English to migrants and refugees at the Migrant English Project (voluntary)

2018–19: Academic Skills Consultant at the Careers and Employability Centre, University of Sussex, working in partnership with academic staff and professional services to design and deliver innovative and dynamic academic skills workshops across the university. Topics included planning and structuring; critical thinking; reading effectively; developing an argument; incorporating sources; editing; and improving academic style.

Oct 2013 to May 2018: Royal Literary Fund Consultant Fellow, Careers and Employability Centre, University of Sussex, running academic skills workshops for undergraduates and Masters students on all aspects of the writing process.

2008–14: Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at the University of Sussex (2008–10); University of Chichester (2011 –12); University of Southampton (2012–13)  Delivering one-to-one writing tutorials to university students at all levels

May 2012–Apr 2013: Advisory Fellow for the Royal Literary Fund, mentoring new Writing Fellows

2011: Cover teacher, Friends Centre, Brighton, teaching English from Entry 1 to Level 2

2000–01: CLIC International House, Seville teaching English to adults and children; cover teacher of French

September 2015–18: Story mentor with Little Green Pig, Brighton, helping children with their writing at story-making workshops

Qualifications

I am currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Higher Education)

2014: Royal Literary Fund Consultant Fellow, accredited by the Royal Literary Fund.

2000: Trinity Certificate in TESOL (Distinction).
