I’m looking forward to exhibiting my children’s book about refugees, ‘Far From Home’, on the Amnesty International stall at the Great Get Together event, this Sunday 24 June at Brighton Dome. I’m hoping that educators will want to purchase it to spark discussions with young people about why millions are forced to flee their countries and seek sanctuary far from home.
Ed Barnard from the Amnesty International bookshop in Brighton approached me a couple of months ago, keen to promote this book, and has created a lovely display in the bookshop for Refugee Week featuring the title.
At the free event there will be art, theatre and music workshops; puppet making; and a dance performance, alongside stalls about refugee issues. So please come along if you’re in Brighton and Hove.
