Compiling a catalogue of stamps issued some 50 years ago is a challenge. Issued in small quantities, usually fewer than 200, some of them fade if exposed to light.
The Great Bitter Lake Association Stamp Catalogue, published in 2020 by Peter Valdner, was a breakthrough in the study of the unique stamps produced by seafarers trapped in the Suez Canal between 1967 and 1975. Valdner has now prepared a second edition – revised, expanded and with a wealth of encyclopaedic data on the ships, masters and stamp producers.
This 336-page colour Collector’s Encyclopaedia offers hundreds of new or better pictures, including more than 100 stamps not featured in the first edition.
